A cooks tools are one of the most important factors when it comes to cooking. Having cookware that holds its heat to be able to get a nice sear or evenly reduce a sauce. A lot of people like the ease of Teflon coated cookware but they miss out on the ability to build flavors. These pans are also something that will have to be replaced often to avoid health risk related to these non stick pans.
Stainless steel cookware is something that can be used everyday and will last you a lifetime. With a little knowledge and practice these pans can easily cook scrambled eggs and pancakes or sear a steak and make a pan sauce. These pans can be cleaned easily from daily use and only takes a little bit of maintenance to keep them looking like new for years and years.
Investing in a good set will cost more than the department store stuff but will be something you will appreciate every time you walk into the kitchen. Check out the cookware Tom and Aim use in these videos.

This is caused by cooking at too high of heats or using more oil then you need when cooking. This bakes the oils onto the pan surface.

Stainless doesn't get the praise it should. It is one of the most durable, healthiest, and best pans to cook with.
1. Make sure your pan is really clean. Not normal sponge with soapy water. This is the time to get the stainless steel polish out and get any backed on grease and other contaminates off of the pan.
2. Season the pan. Heating up the pan with a thin layer of oil helps build an extra layer of non-stick.
3. When it's time to cook. Pre heat you pan on medium heat. Give it time. It should take 2 to 4 minutes depending on the pan and your stove.
4. When you think it's ready. Splash some water into the pan. If it looks like the droplets in this video you are ready for the next step. If the water putters and steams away. The pan isn't hot enough.
5. Add a tsp of your favorite cooking fat and let it heat up or melt. This forms a second non-stick coating for your food.
6. Add in your food and let it sit. This gives the food time to build a crust and release any parts that may have originally stuck to the pan. Flip your food and repeat.
Do you hate not being able to cut something as easy as a tomato. Chances are you either need new knives or they just need to be sharpened. I like this style sharpener because it is easy and takes the guess work out. Make sure you use a sharpener designed with your knife edge angle in mind. This is something to get into a habit of doing every so often to make sure your knives stay in peak shape. A sharp knife is safer then a dull knife. Stop struggling cutting foods and working so hard.
Does it always seem like your knives are dull? You are not alone. There are five things that you can do that will help keep your knives sharp longer.
Dull knives are much more dangerous because of the added force needed to get thru foods.
Tip 1- Use the right cutting surface
Tip 2- Use the right knife for the job
Tip 3- Don't misuse your knives
Tip 4- Store your knives properly
Tip 5- Proper Cleaning and Maintenance
Bonus Tip
Having better knives
Higher quality knives have better steel that can take and keep an edge much better. These knives will also last longer and over all are safer knives.
