Our Story

"Our mission is to help you cook more at home and actually enjoy it. "


Hello, we're Tom and Aim, a couple of newlyweds who loves to cook and creating dishes inspired by our travels. Not only is home cooking more cost effective, it is healthier as well.  Our mission is to help you cook more at home and actually enjoy it.  


Understanding that cooking can be intimidating, both an art and a science that require all five senses, we created Sense of Cooking to share our food knowledge and cooking skills with you.  We want you to cook with confidence!  With proper techniques, knowledge of ingredients, and the right tools; cooking can be efficient and fun.


Cooking is a great way to bring the family together in a loving and creative environment - just like our experiences growing up helping our parents in the kitchen.  Sense of Cooking was created to provide you just that.

We met in Pittsburgh, PA and  left the comfort of the US in 2022 to pursue a simpler life of adventure and independence in Aim's hometown, Bangkok, Thailand.  Aim grew up as an expat, trotting across the globe following her mom's career, savoring wild flavors of shawarma, kimbap, chimichurri and more.  


At the height of her career and severely burnt out from her executive role in Corporate America, Aim decided to leave her lucrative 9-5 to help Tom grow Sense of Cooking.  She now spends time with her family after 20 years of being apart and cook delicious eats for our Sunday Parent Brunches.


Her experience growing up around the world vastly contributes to the fusion aspects of Sense of Cooking.

"After two combat tours, Tom went on to Culinary School to pursue his passion for cooking."

  

Tom was never one for the traditional paths.  After years of running a landscape business, Tom made the change and joined the Marines.  After two combat tours, Tom went on to Culinary School to pursue his passion for cooking.  


Not wanting to go the route of working restaurant kitchens, he became an ambassador of the culinary world and ended up becoming one of the top sales reps of Cutco Cutlery.  For years, he used his love of food to help thousands of home chefs acquire high quality kitchen tools to make their cooking more enjoyable and safe.


Tom was one of the only two waterless cookware demonstration experts of Cutco and now his goal is to bring his knowledge to the home chefs around the world.
